Feeding the homeless #3

Good afternoon, 

I hope this message finds you well.  On Christmas Day in 2014, my family and I went Downtown Atlanta to feed the homeless, and was overwhelm by the amount of people who were homeless. I knew I had to do something to help. Since that day, we have been feeding and ministering to the homeless on the third Saturday of each month by soliciting help from others. The most people we have fed is 100 and there a many more men, women and children who walk away hungry because we don't have enough . My goal is to help the homeless and those transitioning from incarceration to begin again. In other words, to help them start a new life by providing food, clothes, shelter and also career and mental health counseling; and work with employment agencies, temporary services, established business owners and Marta Transit to help them to become gainfully employed, so they can improve the quality of their life. For the most part, it is difficult for those who are homeless and transitioning from incarceration to find employment. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. The Ministry of Reconciliation and Outreach was established to share the love of Jesus Christ and help others to begin again by starting a new life. I am grateful for the opportunity to tell my story and to share with others what we are doing to make a positive difference in the lives of those who are homeless.  Thank you.

The Ministry of Reconciliation and Outreach

During my absence, I've been seeking the Lord about His will for my life and what He wanted me to do. He has given me the Ministry of Reconciliation and Outreach (2 Corinthians 5: 17-21), where we reach out to the homeless and those transitioning from incarceration with the love of Jesus Christ and to help improve their quality of life. Our ministry feed and minister to the homeless on the 3rd Saturday of each month and is currently working to provide: clothing, and shelter, career counseling, work through employment agencies, and temporary services. We are working to partner with established business owners and Marta Transit to help the homeless and transitioning individuals to become gainfully employed--so they can begin again. You Are Holy and Without Blame in His Sight

Did you know that when God looks at you, He doesn't see you..he sees Jesus? Even when you sin and don't do everything right, because Jesus paid the price for your sins with His precious blood. "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us" (Heb. 9:12). For by one offering he has perfected forever (spiritually) them that are sanctified (Heb. 10:14). Also, "I will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more" (Heb. 8:13). So if God doesn't remember your sins, why do you keep bringing them up? "You are holy and without blame in his sight" (Eph. 1:4). Of course, God does not want you to sin because that give the enemy place in your life, but he understand that we are still a work in progress until we recieve our new body (Cor. 15:44). " For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin. Let us therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Heb. 4:15-16).

What is Your New Year's Resolution?

Is it to be more nutritionally fit and health conscious because you are the temple of God and He is not glorified in a sick body? It is to be more conscious of what you say because death and life are in the power of the tongue(Proverb 18:21) and you will have what you say (Mark 11:23). God says, I keep telling my children they can have what they say, but they keep saying what they have; Is it to be a vessel of honor, santified and meet for the master's use and prepared for every good work? Is to become financally sound go that you can give to those in need?

When you pray are you expecting God to answer?

When you pray, are you expecting God to answer? Or, are you praying just to be praying? In Act 12: 1-17, you will see that although they prayed earnestly for Peter's release from prison, they were not expectig God to answer.

"James is killed and Peter is imprisoned. About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church. He had the apostle James (John’s brother) killed with a sword. When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter. Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover. But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate. Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Then the angel told him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered".

So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening. They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.

Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!”

When he realized this, he went to the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many were gathered for prayer. He knocked at the door in the gate, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to open it. When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone, “Peter is standing at the door!”

“You’re out of your mind!” they said. When she insisted, they decided, “It must be his angel.” Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed. He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison".

What about you, are you amazed too when God answers your prayer? If so, where is your faith and confidence in God answering your prayer? 1 John 5:14 says "And this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his will (that is consistent with a Godly life) he hears us, and if we know that he hears us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petition that we desired of him.

Being Grateful Right Where You Are

Sometimes when you are alone, what do you find yourself daydreaming about? a new home, a new job, a new car, possibly going on vacation, or wishing that you had more money to do the things that you would like to do? What about just being grateful right where you are. Thanking God for His provisions and protection, for eyes to see, hears to hear, nose to smell, tongue to taste and the strength that He gives you to do all the wonderful things that you do on a daily basis. Next time you find yourself daydreaming about things you don't have, think about all the wonderful blessings that you do have. I heard a saying that goes like this: I use to complain about my shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet.

Don't Be So Hard On Yourself

Have you ever done some things that you thought you will never do or say some things you thought you would never say, and the moment it happen, you felt remorseful and condenmed, because you knew that the act that was committed you could not take back? How did you deal with it, did you walk around in condemnation and disbelief because you couldn't believe you done what had happen? What about forgiving yourself and asking for forgiveness and forgiving others. Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone makes mistakes, if this was a perfect world we would not need Jesus. Rememeber, we do not have a High priest who cannot smypathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrew 4:15-16, New King James).

Spiritual Death vs. Spiritual Life

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." (Roman 5:12). The picture is as if Death is standing outside a closed door and man's sin is throwing the door open and allowing Death to come in to the human. This is not Physical Death, but it does have reference to another kind of Death which Pauls speaks about constrasting Spiritual Death and Spiritual Life.

Spiritual death is the Nature of the Devil and Spiritual Life is the Nature of God; out of Spiritual Death come hatred, jealousy, murder, and out of the Nature of God come love, forgiveness and peace. We can understand the prevalence and power of sin in the world today. We many legislate all we please, but until we change the Nature of Man, sin will grow and flourish; we may stop it here or there, but it will spring up elsewhere. The only hope of the human is a new Nature. Spiritual Death, then, is the Nature that lies behind all sinned committed. Man commits Sin, because his Nature produces that kind of conduct. Spiritual Death made Man mortal, only Spiritual Life can make him immortal.

Logos Word verses Rhema Word

Jesus is the "Logos", the "Word," the personal manisfestation of God in the flesh (Matt 1:23). Rhema denotes "that which is spoken. The significance however of rhema as distinct from logos is that "to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" Eph. 6:17, here the reference is not to the whole Bible as such, but to the individual scripture which the Spirit brings to our rememberance for use in time of need, a prerequisite being the regular storing of the mind with Scripture.

Faith is Present

Where the Word of God is spoken, faith is present. Faith is the energy that is in the Word that gives it the ability to bring itself to past in your life.

Let's look at the word spoken in Abraham's life. "As is it written, I have made you a father of many nations according to what was spoken. "So shall your descendents be. And not being weak in faith, he did not waiver at the promise (the spoken word) of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what he had promised he was also able to perform (Roman 4:17-21). When God spoke these words to Abraham the reality of this truth did not come to past until many years later. "Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace so that the promise (the spoken word) might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (Roman 4:16).

The Faith Walk

Have you ever wondered why God put faith as a requirement for receiving from Him? It seem unnatural. It has made blessings seem unattainable. It seems to put them just beyond our reach. Remember man was created in God's image (Genesis 1:26), a spirit being. We were created to walk with God, who is a Spirit (John 4:24). It is the faith realm. It is the realm of the one "Who calleth those things that be not as though they were" (Romans 4:17). When man died spiritually, he became alienated from God. He ceased to live in the spirit. He became separated from God's ability and began to walk in the flesh. According to Roman 8:5-7, "The mind of the flesh is enmity against God." It is this mind that lives according to the five senses. Living by faith is living in the realm of the Spirit. Are you recieving from God by faith or by your own ability through the five senses?

Was God Fair in His Dealings with the Human Race?

Man is ever accusing God of injustice in His dealings with the human race, and has declared that He had no right to create man in the face of the fact that He knew man would fall. Man questions God's right to judge the human race and to execute sentence based the crime that was committed. Can God justify himself in the face of these accusations? Has God a right to send one man to Hell and another to Heaven? Has God, as Judge, a right to execute the sentence that has been shown in scripture upon those who reject Christ?

If God can save one human being who rejects Jesus Christ as a personal Savior, then He could have saved the whole human race, because there is no difference. If the whole world could have been saved apart from Christ, then God sending Jesus to Hell is the most hideous crime ever committed in the Universe. Man's sin is but child's play in comparison to the unthinkable crime of sending the Holy, innocent Son of God into Hell as our sin Substitute, if it were not necessary. If this be true, then every man who rejects Jesus must legally go to Hell regardless of God's feelings, and every man who accepts Jesus must legally go to Heaven. God stand acquitted in that He did not leave man after the sin that was committed without the means of salvation. This give God a right to sit as Judge on the great White Throne and it seals man's lips forever.

Faith's Real Rest

There are 3 powerful words that describe the condition of the believer who is taking advantage of his privileges in Christ Jesus--rest, peace, and joy. These three words are the fruit of full grown faith. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). This peace didn't belong to the Jews under the first covenant. The only peace they new would be a national peace, but with the New Creation, it is a peace of the heart, a peace of mind, a peace in his physical body. Sickness is called disease, broken peace, broken rest, broken joy.

Isaiah 26:3 is a prophecy of the church, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee".

More Than The Eyes Can See

God is a Spirit, and He moves in the spirit realm. It often takes a period of time before what God has done in the spiritual world manisfest in the physical world. Most Christians think that if God wants something done, it gets done automatically, but that's not so. They don't understand that there are limitations and restrictions that God has to deal with in order to answer prayer. For example, in Daniel 10, after Daniel prayed about this vision, verse (12) says "Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come because of thy words. But the prince of the Kingdom of Persia (demonic opposition)withstood me one and twenty days (21), but lo Michael one of the chief princes came to help me".

Next time you pray and your prayer does not manisfest right away, remember there are demonic opposition in the spiritual realm that is trying to keep your answer from manisfesting. It took Daniel 21 days before he received the answer to his prayer, and Michael the angel said he was there because of Daniels words. How long are you willing to stand until your prayer is answered?

Hold fast to your confessions of faith in Gods word, because He is faithful to bring it to past if you don't give up.

Serpent on a Pole

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifed up (John 3:14).

The brazen "serpent" lifted up by Moses was symbolical of the means of salvation provided by God, in Christ and his death under divine judgment upon sin. Whereas the living "serpent" symbolizes sin in its origin, for example, unforgiveness and its deadly effects, the brazen "serpent" symbolized the bearing away of the curse and the judgment of sin; and the metal itself representing the righteousness of God's judgment.

The brazen "serpent" on the pole that is associated with hospitals throughout the country is symbolical for healing.

Propitiation

The term propitiation was used among the Greeks with reference to appease or to show mercy. It also signifies an expiation, a means whereby sin is covered and remitted. It is used in the New Testament of Christ Himself as "the propitiation", in 1 John 2:2 and 4:10, signifying that He Himself, through the expiatory sacrifice of His death, is the personal means by whom God shows mercy to the sinner who believes on Christ as the One of provided the ultimate sacrifice.

In 1 John 2:2 Christ is described as "the propitiation" for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. The italicized "the sins of" in the King James Version gives a wrong interpretation indicating that provision is made for the whole world, so that no one is, by divine predetermination, excluded from the scope of God's mercy, on the contrary, the "propitiation" however, is made actual for only those who believe.

In John 4:10, the fact that God "sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" is shown to be the great expression of God's love toward man, and the reason why Christians should love one another.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit's home is the human body. "Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit." Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world." In the Old Testament times the Holy Spirit's work as indicated in the Scriptures was in creation, renewing the face of the earth, inspiring men to write the Holy Oracles of God, and coming upon men for special operations and special works of might and leadership. His permanent home then was in the tabernacle, afterwards the temple.

The Holy Spirit did not make His permanent home in the body of man then, because man was spiritually dead, a child of the Devil though he lived under the Blood Covenant and was sheltered by the Atonement Blood. He could not make His home in the human body until man had been recreated. This could not take place until Christ had come and paid the penalty of sin, taken His seat as Mediator, and sent Eternal Life to the men and women who would take Him as Savior and Lord.

The Holy Spirit's work today is first, that of a convicter of the world. He does this through the preaching of God's Word, through the Living Word in the lives of believers, through the written word, the Scriptures, or spiritual literature. His work in the individual members of the Family of God is that of a Teacher, Guide, Comforter, and Sanctifier. The Holy Spirit's home is in the heart of God's Children, but He does not come into every believe at the New Birth. The New Birth is receiving the life and nature of God. This makes him a child of God and a human temple for the Holy Spirit to indwell. After he is born again, he has a legal right to ask the Holy Spirit to come into his body and make it His home.
